This is a photo of the night view of the capital city Seoul in Korea. There was the Korean war about 50 years ago. Most of the buildings were destroyed and many people were killed. It seemed like there was no hope in the country. Since the Korean war, Korea has been growing up remarkably and became one of the power in Asia. Nobody expected that Korea would be developed as it is today. We call it 'Miracle of Han river'.
A few decades ago, Korea was governed by a dictatorial government. The president , Doo hwan Jeon, was very cruel and stubborn. When there was a demonstration against the government asking for freedom in the city of Gwangju, the government sent a troop to suppress the nation and many people were killed. It took place in my hometown and many people still remember the days under the dictatorial government.
In 2002, the Korea-Japan world cup took place. Everybody went out to cheer the Korean national soccer team. The Korean national soccer team finally moved up to semifinal and the country was full of excitement. All of people became one through the games.
There are many homeless pets in Korea. Are they just lost and the owners couldn't find them? No. They were just dumped from people who were once family and friends with them. People love small and cute puppies which lead them to get them. As it grows and needs more food and bigger house, People get much stress on it and dump them on the street. It is completely inhumane not to take care of their pets.
A tragedy took place a few days ago in Korea. A huge ferry running from Gyung-gi province to Jeju-island sank in the middle of south sea. The ferry was accommodating hundreds of students who were going on a school trip to Jeju-island. When the ferry lost its balance and started to lie on its side, the captain of the ferry and crew members escaped from the ferry. They didn't help passengers to get out of the ferry. They were arrested for not taking responsibilities. There are still many passengers who are estimated to be drown in the ferry and many rescuers are trying to get in and get them out of the ferry.

The second one which talks about Korea history to get democracy makes me think about today's Korea. Nowadays, people are fighting each other because of politics. I hope all of us remember how hard it was to get this freedom in Korea.
Third one is so exciting! You know what? at that time I was only 8 years old! But I can remember the games and passion of people, haha. I cannot wait for the next Brazil World Cup! It will be super fun!! I hope we can watch the world cup with MEW class mates. :)

답글삭제From the first one, I can know that there are variety eyes to similar picture. I chose one picture that is night view of Seoul too. But my thought for that was different with you. From your messages, I also agreed with you. That wonderful Seoul have not been made easily and for a few days and not just one big city.
Your second one is so sad and relavant for us. I know that event in Gwang Ju well. And, I once visited Gwang ju and went to the memorial hall. In hall, I could see many records and traces like your second one. I think we must not forget our old and sad history through these records. And have to think of our society more seriously.

The night view of Seoul is always amazing. Especially, the night view of Yeouido from the Han River is the best.
답글삭제And the May 18th Democratic Uprising is a painful history I will never forget because my hometown is Gwangju, too. I still haven’t forgotten that my teacher cried while teaching that terrible history.
In the first picture, I can feel the greatness of Korea. We had a big war before, but rebuilt with our effort. We have troubles in many way which occur because of fast growth, however we are living in the great country. Growth like this country is not easy.
답글삭제And I can't believe that the accident in the fifth picture occurred in Korea. The ferry company didn't check safety property, the crew of ferry didn't evacuate passengers, the maritime police didn't rescue people actively, and the government didn't prepare for all eventualities. We must not forget this accident.
2002 world cup was indelible in my life. This year, It is possible to occur just like 2002. I hope players to fight well and get a nice result! However, its match time don't look good to us to watch games. What on earth is it??!!
